frequently asked questions

What is a compounding pharmacy?

A compounding pharmacy prepares customized medications tailored to an individual patient’s specific needs to optimize patient outcomes. Unlike mass-manufactured medications, compounded prescriptions are created in the precise strength, dosage form, and combination prescribed by your healthcare provider.

Why would I need a compounded medication?

Your provider may prescribe a compounded medication if:

  • You need a customized dose
  • You are allergic to dyes, fillers, or preservatives
  • You need a medication in a different form (cream, liquid, troche, capsule)
  • A medication is unavailable or discontinued
  • Multiple medications need to be combined
  • Pediatric or veterinary dosing requires adjustment

What types of medications do you compound?

We specialize in:

  • Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT)
  • Dermatology compounds
  • Low dose naltrexone (LDN)
  • Veterinary medications
  • Pediatric medications
  • Dentistry compounding
  • Topical analgesics

If you have a medication need or condition not listed above, please contact us. Our team will be happy to work with you and your healthcare provider to explore customized medications and possible solutions.

Are compounded medications FDA approved?

Compounded prescriptions are not individually FDA-approved like commercially manufactured drugs. However, these customized medications are prepared by licensed pharmacists using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients and must comply with state and federal regulations, as well as applicable USP standards, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800>.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes. All compounded medications require a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

Does insurance cover compounded medications?

We do not bill insurance plans directly. Cash payment is collected at the time of service. For your convenience, we can provide a universal claim form that you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

How long does it take to prepare my prescription?

Most prescriptions are prepared within 24–48 hours. Prescriptions received early in the day are often compounded and shipped the same day, depending on order requirements.

Do you ship medications?

For your convenience, most prescriptions are shipped directly to patients’ homes. This allows patients to receive their customized medications quickly and discreetly without the need to travel to the pharmacy.

We ship prescriptions to patients within California.

All prescriptions require a valid provider authorization. Temperature-sensitive medications are packaged appropriately to maintain integrity during transit. Please contact us for specific shipping questions.

For patients located nearby, prescription pickup may be arranged when appropriate.

Can I speak with the pharmacist?

Absolutely. Our pharmacist is available for consultation regarding your medication, dosing instructions, and any questions you may have.
