Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormones play an essential role in regulating many of the body’s functions, including metabolism, mood, sleep, energy levels, and reproductive health. As we age, hormone levels naturally change, which may be associated with symptoms that affect daily functioning and quality of life..

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) uses hormones that are structurally identical to those produced naturally by the body. Through pharmaceutical compounding, medications can be customized to meet the specific needs of each patient based on their symptoms, laboratory results, and clinical goals.

BHRT For Women

Hormonal fluctuations commonly occur during perimenopause and menopause. These changes may be associated with symptoms that affect daily functioning and quality of life.

Common symptoms may include:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Mood changes or irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Decreased libido
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Difficulty concentrating

BHRT For Men

Hormone levels in men may gradually decline with age. Reduced testosterone levels may sometimes be associated with symptoms affecting physical function, sexual health, and mood.

Symptoms of low testosterone may include:

  • Low energy or fatigue
  • Decreased libido
  • Reduced muscle mass
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Mood changes
  • Decreased motivation

BHRT

Compounded bioidentical hormone therapy allows physicians to create customized treatment plans using bioidentical hormones such as estradiol, estriol, progesterone, DHEA, or testosterone when appropriate. By adjusting strengths, combinations, and dosage forms, compounding may offer options when commercially available products do not meet a patient's individualized needs.

Compounded hormone therapy allows physicians to individualize treatment plans based on a patient's specific needs by customizing:

  • Hormone strengths
  • Combinations of hormones
  • Dosage forms
  • Formulations prepared without certain dyes, preservatives, fragrance, etc.

At EpitomeRx, we work closely with healthcare providers to prepare personalized formulations tailored to each patient's unique needs and treatment goals.

EpitomeRx is a licensed compounding pharmacy in Arcadia, CA, dedicated to personalized medications

including BHRT, dermatology, low-dose naltrexone, and more.
